The true plague is worldliness

The Trap Of Worldliness

Jesus came to save the world? —
Did you notice how quickly the world can disappear?
No, not planet earth, but the “world” as Christ and His apostles defined it.
During the current contagion, observe what came to a screeching halt, how quickly — instantly — entire industries, businesses, professions, institutions, educational systems, entertainment enterprises, real-estate corporations, stocks, media, health-care networks, beauticians, food suppliers, and so forth can crater (until they are given three trillion dollars that is plucked out of the same thin air).
Oh, how tentative is life. This is God’s warning. So far it is only an incipient chastisement. And the issue is worldliness.
It is also pride.
In Africa, a preacher known for his prophecies (as we showed in a recent “special report,” he in certain striking ways foresaw the pandemic several years ago) says if we return to pride, there will be a second wave, and then another, and then another, whereas with prayer and humility a cure will be anointed. Let those with ears to hear listen.
Through the centuries — through millennia — the Holy Catholic Church has warned about worldliness, and for good reason: Jesus taught strictly against it, calling Satan the “prince of this world.”
The Bible has a great deal to say about worldliness, none of it good. Yet, Christianity is currently suffused with it. For shame.
The dictionary definition of “worldly” is “relating to, or devoted to, the temporal world.” Worldliness, then, is the condition of being overly focused on worldly affairs, especially to the neglect of spiritual development.
Yet we live at a time when many of God’s own people have fallen into the trap.

There is money: Nothing is more worldly than a focus on mammon, yet it is the major measuring tool of modern society. So perverse are the times that Jesus Who was born in a manger and never owned a house or a donkey or anything mentioned in Scripture (save for clothes) is used by prosperity ministers who distort His message as one that encourages people to seek wealth (“life more abundantly”) and view it (overabundance; millionaire status; fame; power) as a blessing.
That wasn’t the type of abundance He was referring to; He was referring to the abundance of Grace; none of His apostles lived in mansions; they were counter-worldy. Are we?
There is politics: Involvement in this — beyond being informed and registering one’s vote, beyond scanning it as a sign of the times, beyond strongly opposing evils such as abortion and capital punishment and abuse of nature: being consumed by politics: is worldly. We have reached the sad moment in American history when politics itself has become a religion. There are many who are more focused on politics than their faith and who exhibit more intense loyalty to politicians than to Jesus.
Anything that takes the place of Jesus is an idol.
And idols blind; they obsess; they make a person antagonistic to anyone who doesn’t have the same idol or inclination — makes them think that a sociological, cultural, or political leaning defines salvation.
Only Jesus defines that.
Notes one preacher: “Paul equates worldliness with spiritual immaturity in 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, where he addresses the believers in the church of Corinth in regard to their worldly behavior. Though they were believers—he calls them ‘brothers’—they were spiritual babies who could not understand the deep things of God that Paul wished to share with them. They had never progressed past learning the basics of the faith and were seemingly content to remain there. This lack of maturity led to their behaving as though they were still part of the [“world”]. They quarreled among themselves as to which of them was greater because of which of the Apostles they followed (1 Corinthians 1:11-133:4), when in reality they followed none of them, following instead their own lusts and desire to elevate themselves above others. Paul exhorted them to grow up and mature in the faith so they would cease from worldly behavior.
“The epistles depict worldliness as the exact opposite of godliness. The world’s wisdom is not wisdom at all (1 Corinthians 3:18-19). Rather, it is foolishness, especially the world’s wisdom on the subject of religion. We see that today in the endless discussions of ‘spirituality’ by men whose spiritual wisdom is based on nothing more than worldly illusions. True wisdom that comes from God is juxtaposed against the foolish ‘wisdom’ of the world throughout Scripture. The message of the Cross is foolishness to those with worldly wisdom who are perishing (1 Corinthians 1:18) because true wisdom comes not from man’s philosophies, but from God’s Word. True godliness is always opposed by the world.
“Furthermore, Paul refers to a ‘worldly sorrow’ (2 Corinthians 7:10) which is the opposite of the godly sorrow that comes from true repentance. Godly sorrow is what we feel over our sin when we come to see it as God sees it and when our viewJesus holds revolving world with Three Angels' Messages flying ... of it is in accord with His. Worldly sorrow, on the other hand, does not stem from the knowledge of sin against a holy God, but rather from circumstances in which the worldly find themselves.
“Finally, Scripture draws a clear distinction between friendship with God and friendship with the world. James 4:4 tells us that ‘friendship with the world is hatred toward God.’ He goes on to say that ‘anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.’ The apostle James uses the strong words ‘hatred’ and ‘enemy’ to drive home the point that we can be in the world or in the Kingdom, but not both because they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Those who choose worldliness choose to live in the enemy’s camp because all that is of the world is under the control of Satan (1 John 5:19). He is the ruler of this world, and when we choose the world, we enlist in his evil army and become enemies of God.”
It can be politics. It can be Hollywood (which even refers to celebrities as “idols”). It can be sex. It can be amusements. It certainly can be possessions, especially cars and homes and stock portfolios.
Consumed by consumerism, obsessed with Wall Street: has this not been the gauge, even beyond death counts, of the “pandemic” (in quotes because a truly historic pandemic can be far, far worse; so far this is a dress rehearsal.).
Spend, spend, spend. We’ll show this virus!
Instead, we should be quietly praying for the world’s deliverance, donning ashes and sackcloth, for this virus is evil; it has a spiritual component. Evil attracts evil. And the Chair of Peter says worldliness is the greatest evil.
Don’t sink into worldliness, and if you are ensnared, if you are in that quicksand, if money or politics or intellectualism or science defines you, do everything with Godspeed to pull yourself out.

“Come Holy Spirit. Come Holy Spirit.”

“Come Holy Spirit. Come Holy Spirit.”

We can never repeat that enough. It’s the most fundamental of prayers. You can even ask the Holy Spirit to tell you what you need and how to pray for it!

“Peace does not come from you, but from God,” the Blessed Virgin said in 1984 at Medjugorje.

“I call you always to bring harmony and peace.”

“Raise your hands, yearn for Jesus, because in His Resurrection He wants to fill you with graces. Be enthusiastic about the Resurrection. All of us in Heaven are happy, but we seek the joy of your hearts.”

“The most important thing in the spiritual life is to ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, the peace will be established. When that occurs, everything changes around you.”

“I have come to call the world to conversion for the last time” (1982).

“Let the Holy Mass be your life.”

For it is the Holy Spirit Who grants guidance, heals sickness, strengthens our bodies, and protects us against all untoward events. It’s the Holy Spirit Who imbues Mass with Christ’s Presence. When there are miracles or revelations, these are accomplished through the Holy Spirit. During Mass He is especially strong. He is especially willing to pervade our spirits.

And we should invite that. We should beg for His arrival. We should beg Him to pray through our minds and lips. Again, we should ask Him to reveal to us what it is we should be praying about.

He is the Spirit of Truth. He is the Spirit of prayerfulness.

When the priest gives us the opportunity to reflect upon our sins, we should ask the Holy Spirit to tell us what sins we most need to purge. We should ask Him to reach deep into our pasts and expunge any evil. We should ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten us as to what we need for spiritual development.

And we should cover ourselves with the whiteness of His protection.

Such is crucial in our time, when evil spirits (which we’ll be discussing more this week) are more numerous than ever– when they continue to climb in a horde from the pit, when they antagonize and anger and divide us. We need special protection, and that protection is given by the Holy Spirit. He draws us to the Father. He draws us to Jesus. As part of the Holy Trinity, He has the power to grant us health (if such is the Will of God) and shield us from demonism.

At Mass we should ask the Holy Spirit to protect us and our loved ones from accidents and disease. We should ask for protection from any unfortunate events. We should ask the Spirit to send special angels and further empower those angels we have. We should ask Him to guide our every thought and action. We should ask for a long, healthy life, a holy death, and the sure route to Heaven.

Come Holy Spirit of truth. Come Holy Spirit of Health. Come Holy Spirit of holiness. Come Holy Spirit of purity. Come Holy Spirit of discernment. Come Holy Spirit of peace.

Nothing brings the Holy Spirit like the Eucharist, and with God, anything is possible. Anything can change. Anything can be accomplished. As the Virgin of Medjugorje said, “The most important thing in the spiritual life is to ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, then peace will be established. When that occurs, everything around you changes. Pray for the Holy Spirit for enlightenment. Ask the Holy Spirit to renew your souls, to renew the entire world. Raise your hands, yearn for Jesus because in His Resurrection He wants to fill you with graces.”

When that happens, when we have the Holy Spirit, then, according to Our Blessed Mother, we have everything.

7 Reasons to Encounter God’s Glory

7 Reasons to Encounter God’s Glory
 Helen Calder    26 April 2019

Hear God say, ‘It’s time for My glory to be revealed.’

In the midst of darkness; in the midst of the trial.
In the face of opposition.
Though every feeling declares otherwise.

The splendor and brightness of God’s glory is being seen upon you (Is 60:1)
‘And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together.
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.’ (Is 40:5, NIV)

7 Reasons to Encounter God’s Glory

1. Because You Will Encounter God Himself
Moses had an intimate relationship with God. Yet he wanted more.

‘Now, show me your glory’, he asked.
And God’s reply was, ‘I will make all my goodness pass before you’. (Ex 33:18, 19)

Moses was longing for God to reveal more of Himself.

For glory is a Person:

‘I Myself will be the wall of fire around you’, declares the Lord. ‘I will be the glory in your midst!’ (Zech 2:5)

In the Old Testament, nations knew of God’s glory by hearsay.
The Israelites knew of God’s glory by observation.
But Moses had a relationship with the One Who is glory. [1,2]

The Holy Spirit is calling God’s people to intimacy with Him, and so your desire for God’s glory is growing.

He says, ‘You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.’ (Jer 29:13,NIV).

2. Because You are Stepping into Your Divine Appointment
When Isaiah was confronted with the glory of God upon His Throne, he became instantly aware of his sin. The man cried out, ‘woe is me, for I am ruined!’ (Isaiah 6:5).

At that moment an angel came with a hot coal from the altar, touched Isaiah’s lips and said, ‘your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for’.

This is the extraordinary grace of God: that He—in all His holiness and majesty—continues to pursue you.

He doesn’t wait until you have met certain conditions, feel ready, are free of weakness, or have escaped the trial.
The way to His Presence (represented by that hot coal) is the work of Jesus Christ, and Christ alone!

‘Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus…let us draw near to God’ (Heb 10:19)

The God of glory is a loving Father, Who is relentless in His pursuit of you.
Just as God revealed Himself to Isaiah because He had a commission for him, He has a work that only you can do.

And everything you need for the task ahead, can be found in your appointment with Him—in the Presence of His glory.

3. Because You Are Filled with the Spirit
God instructed Ezekiel to go to the valley, to meet and talk with Him there (Ezek 3:22). When Ezekiel arrived at the place of appointment, he was confronted with the glory of the Lord.

God’s glory stood in that place.

The power of that glory was such that Ezekiel fell on his face—and then, he wrote, ‘the Spirit entered me’.

Glory is not an impersonal Heavenly substance. The ‘glory’ is the Person of the Holy Spirit.
In the Old Testament, prophets had a unique relationship with God
But now, because of the death and resurrection of Christ, there is no barrier between God’s people and His glory
This is your inheritance!
You do not have to look at a distance to encounter the glory of God. You have the Spirit of glory in and with you.

Now, you are a carrier of God’s glory. You are also clothed with His glory (Luke 24:49).
Know it, see it by faith. Don’t let discouragement, insecurity or condemnation tell you otherwise.

Where you walk, God’s glory walks.

4. Because You Will be Transformed into His Likeness
‘The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being.’ (Heb 1:3a)

Glory is a Person.

Peter James and John glimpsed the radiance of Jesus’ Heavenly glory on the mountain, and it was written of that moment, ‘His face shone like the sun’ (Matt 17:2).

John saw the resurrected Christ in the fullness of His glory. He wrote, ‘His eyes were a flame of fire’ and ‘His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength’ (Rev 1:15, 16) And John ‘fell at His feet as dead’. (Rev 1:17)

Jesus’ glory is the extension of His Person, as sunshine is an extension of the sun.
And now, ‘…as He is, so are we in this world’ (1 John 4:17b, NKJV).

‘And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.’ (2 Cor 3:18, NIV)

So, look into the mirror of Scripture, and pursue encounters with God’s glory.

A transformed life does not come from behaving; it comes from beholding.
For the One you see is Holy.

5. Because God Will Receive Glory and Praise
The glory released upon us, and conveyed through us to others, can only return one place—to God Himself, in praise, in renown and in worship.

David wrote,
‘Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praise’ (1 Chron 16:24-25a, NKJV)

We pursue God’s glory because He is worthy of glory! And so we see the three Biblical directions of glory:

1. Downwards: God’s glory upon us, in the Person of the Holy Spirit
2. Outwards: God’s glory being revealed in and through us to others
3. Upwards: Glory being returned to God

Paul wrote of the spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit that
‘… to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.’ (1 Cor 12:17, NIV)

When you operate in the gifts and ministry of the Spirit, you are revealing God’s glory.
Glory results in miracles, signs and wonders; in healing and deliverance—which in turn bring glory to God. (Luke 5:25-26)

6. Because His Glory is Your Destination
Jesus prayed, “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17:24, NKJV)

To live in God’s glory is your eternal destiny.

Your home is Heaven—a place that shines with the glory of God (Rev 21:11) and needs no light other than God Himself (Rev 22:5).

This is why you experience a deep and compelling desire to know Him in His glory
You want others who don’t yet know Jesus to have a place beside you in Heaven.

The desire for God’s glory is in their very DNA, and when they see the Spirit upon you, they will be homesick for what you have.
They will want to encounter God for themselves. (Ecc 3:11)

7. Because Jesus’ Glory Will be Known to the World
It’s time to pursue God’s glory, because this is the time Jesus’ glory is appearing to the world.

Not just ‘here a little and there a little’, but like the rush of an incoming tide
Like the rising of the sun, that cannot be held back
‘For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.’ (Hab 2:14)

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you…the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you…” (Isaiah 60:1,2 NKJV)

Prayer
‘Lord Jesus, We want to see You in Your fullness. Reveal Your glory, reveal Your splendor, Your brightness, Your majesty.
Remove every veil that has kept us from seeing you.
We cry, ‘Show us Your glory!’

Notes:
[1] See Josh 2:9-11, Ex 20:18-19, 33:10

[2] The Hebrew word translated glory in relation to God’s manifested Presence, is kabod (Strong’s H3519), which means glory, honor and abundance. It is used of God’s Presence, and also of wealth and of reputation. The word from which this is derived is weight, and so, there is a sense of weightiness and substance conveyed in this word.

It first appears in relation to God’s manifested Presence in Scriptures such as Exodus 16:7, 10 and 24:16, 17

The Greek word translated glory is doxa (Strong’s 1391). It similarly means glory, and honor, reputation and is used of Heavenly brightness.

[3] Strong’s G5321, phanerosis. This Greek word translated manifestation, means ‘exhibition’ and comes from a word meaning to make manifest, to appear.

The origin of the party's freedom of religious belief policy

Release time: 2018-12-12Source: Xinhuanet, "100 Origins of the United Front"Print this article[Font: Tai Zhong small ]

The policy of freedom of religious belief is the basic policy of our party and the country on the issue of religious belief, and it is also a long-term policy. It has gone through a long historical process from the initial proposal to its final establishment.

(One)

In the early days of the founding of the Communist Party of China, starting from my country's actual national conditions, it creatively adhered to and applied Marxist religious theory, and put forward some important theoretical viewpoints and policy ideas on freedom of religious belief.

In 1922, the "Guide" published a statement that the freedom of speech, assembly, association, publication, and religious belief "is already a necessity of life", indicating that the party has a certain degree of understanding of the importance of freedom of religious belief. In 1931, the "Chinese Soviet Constitution Outline" stipulated that "the Chinese Soviet regime aims to ensure that workers, peasants and laborers have the real freedom of religious belief," marking the beginning of the formation of the party's religious policy. Although it carries strong characteristics of the times, it has determined the party's fundamental guidelines for handling religious issues.

In 1938, the "Resolution of the Jinchaji Border Region Military, Political and Civil Congress" pointed out: "Give the people freedom of assembly, association, speech, publication, religion and belief." In February 1942, the "Xinhua Daily" published an editorial "Religious Attitudes" elaborates the party’s policy on freedom of religious belief in a more complete and systematic manner, not only emphasizing that the Communist Party respects freedom of religious belief, but also affirms the right to freedom of belief (including belief in communism). Mao Zedong also pointed out in the seven major political reports: "According to the principle of religious freedom, the Chinese Liberated Area allows the existence of various religions." "As long as the followers abide by the laws of the people's government, the people's government will protect them." These statements insist on Marxism-Leninism. On the basis of the basic theory of religious issues, it stipulated a line and a series of specific guidelines and policies for our party to correctly handle religious issues.

(two)

After the founding of New China in 1949, various religions that continued in history faced the problem of how to adapt to the new regime and society as soon as possible. The Communist Party of China and the People’s Government have clearly put forward policies to implement freedom of religious belief throughout the country, and have formulated a prudent and steady policy on religious work and some specific policies to guarantee the rights of religious believers to freedom of religious belief and normal religious activities.
